The examination covers every tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissues of your mouth, including a routine check for signs of oral cancer. We take X-rays when there is a reason to, not by default.
The hygiene half of the appointment removes the hardened deposits that brushing cannot reach, above and below the gum line. If your gums bleed when you brush, this is the appointment that tells us why.
You leave with a written summary: what is healthy, what we are keeping an eye on, and what — if anything — needs doing. Nothing is booked on the day without discussing it with you first.
